We think that if people are disconnected from nature, they are less inclined to protect it. If you can't connect with the birds, coasts, trees, rivers how can you relate to them? And if you can't relate to them, then you are not going to care for them or do the things needed to sustain their life. Added to this is the fact that growing numbers of the population living in urban areas are already cut off from nature and disinterested in its fate. That's why it is worthwhile to consider humanity’s growing detachment from the natural world because if you aren’t connecting with nature, you cannot possibly be moved or strengthened by it.
